We loved working with West Sound Academy, a small independent college preparatory school located on a wooded, twenty-acre campus overlooking Liberty Bay in Poulsbo, Washington. West Sound Academy serves students in grades six through twelve, offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme in the junior and senior years.
New Compelling Home Page Design and Messaging
West Sound Academy’s internal team built a nice looking website with WordPress. They were having some technical and performance issues, and asked for some input on how to improve their website. We performed a thorough website review/audit, and made recommendations for cleaning up the back end of the site, as well as enhancing the design and messaging.
West Sound asked us to redesign the website with new home page messaging, and a new design for subpages using their existing content. We also helped them rework their site map and created redirects for content that was removed or changed.
The new color palette adds some depth and personality to the website. We made a slight adjustment to their logo by adding a second color, and utlized a lower case font style to match their logo.
Home Page Messaging
West Sound Academy offers some unique and compelling programs. Their new home page calls attention to the features and benefits of the school, with both imagery and words. We helped call attention to the global outlook of the school, and emphasized the word World in the headline with a font that mimcs the W in the logo.
We used a parallax design to show a nice aerial photo of the campus, and featured some stats about the school using the updated, nature-toned color palette.
SubPage Layouts
We created subpage templates using Beaver Builder page builder, to make it easy for the team at West Sound to create new pages that have a consistent design. We used a sidebar navigation for the top level pages to make the website easy for users to navigate.
Technical Improvements and Cleanup
As part of the process of refreshing the website design, we also helped organize and clean up the content on the back end of the website, and performed some optimization to ensure a fast load speed and good performance. We imported all their existing blog posts and created a template for those, too!
