Concord Hill School
Concord Hill School, located in Maryland, is a nurturing and welcoming environment where young children are inspired and empowered to wonder, experiment, and thrive. The school serves children from age 3 to grade 3, focusing on cultivating curiosity and fostering personal and academic growth through a dynamic program rooted in nurturing relationships.
Objective
Concord Hill School partnered with Design TLC to develop a new website that would better represent their values, enhance their online presence, and provide more control and flexibility at a much more affordable budget. The new website, built with WordPress, replaced the school’s outdated Finalsite website, offering a refreshed and modern digital experience.
The previous website did not reflect the school’s updated branding and mission, leaving a perception of being outdated and old-fashioned. The client expressed concerns about confusing section headings, the need for a more visually appealing design, and the lack of functional features such as an updated school calendar and better photography. The goal was to create a site that was not only easy to navigate but also engaging and representative of the school’s unique offerings and community spirit.
Approach
We embarked on the project with a clear understanding of Concord Hill School’s needs and aspirations. Our approach included:
- WordPress Implementation: Concord Hill chose us because we only work with WordPress, a great fit for their school for its flexibility and user-friendly interface. This ensured that the school could easily manage and update the website content in-house without the need for extensive technical support.
- Enhanced Visual Design: The new website features modern design elements, including animations on the homepage that depict a child riding a bike and other students dancing, capturing the joyful and dynamic spirit of the school. The design also includes a vibrant presentation of quick facts and engaging illustrated icons that make the content more accessible and appealing.
- High-Quality Photography: We incorporated photography by Rebecca Drobis, showcasing the school’s environment, activities, and community. The visual content plays a crucial role in communicating the warm, nurturing atmosphere that Concord Hill School offers.
- Functional Features: The website now includes a robust school calendar and event section, allowing parents to stay informed and involved in the school’s activities. Additionally, we integrated online forms for families to sign up for tours and open houses, making it easier for prospective families to engage with the school.
- Clear Navigation: To address the concerns about confusing section headings, we reorganized the site’s structure to ensure a seamless and intuitive user experience. The navigation now clearly differentiates between sections like “Our Program,” “Admission,” and “Our Community,” and includes interior navigation to give visitors a logical path to explore the site.
Outcome
The launch of the new Concord Hill School website was met with enthusiasm from the school community. The site now accurately reflects the school’s updated branding and mission, offering a visually pleasing, easy-to-navigate, and functional digital presence. The school now enjoys greater control over their content, with a website that aligns with their values and supports their goals of nurturing young learners and fostering strong partnerships with families.
