Westminster School

Westminster School needed a website that was reliable, easy to manage, and focused on prospective families. Its existing site relied on outdated software that could no longer be updated, and the school no longer had anyone managing the hosting and technical updates. With more than 200 pages, including duplicate content and outdated information, the website had become difficult to maintain and navigate.

Design TLC partnered with Westminster to stabilize the existing website, organize its content, and launch a new digital experience that better supports enrollment and ongoing content management with a beautiful design that reflects the school’s classical focus.

What the client had to say

Nancy Schuler, head of school

“We are THRILLED with how the site has turned out and we are SO GRATEFUL to you and your team for your efforts, guidance, and patience … we are in such a much better position than we were before!  This has been a long-standing goal for me since I took over as head of school and we just couldn’t have found a better partner than TLC.”

Objective

The project began with an immediate priority: move the existing website to stable hosting. This gave the school a more reliable foundation while we worked toward the redesign.

Beyond that initial migration, our goals were to:

  • Replace outdated software with a website that is easier to maintain.
  • Organize more than 200 pages and address duplicate and outdated information.
  • Shift the website’s focus toward prospective families and enrollment.
  • Add Blackbaud integration.
  • Incorporate background video while maintaining strong performance.
  • Give school staff an easy-to-manage backend.
  • Keep content review and project progress organized throughout the redesign.

Approach

Stabilizing the Existing Website

Before beginning the redesign, we migrated Westminster’s existing website to stable hosting. With an unstable site and no one actively managing it, this was an essential first step in supporting the school through the transition.

Content Organization and Enrollment Strategy

A substantial part of the project involved making sense of the existing content. More than 200 pages had accumulated over time, with duplicates and outdated information making it harder for visitors to find what they needed.

We worked through that content with the school, identifying what to retain, consolidate, update, or remove. The new structure put prospective families at the center of the experience, making the website a more useful resource for learning about Westminster and exploring enrollment.

An Organized, Collaborative Process

Managing a large volume of content requires a clear process. We established a system for organizing pages, tracking content decisions, and keeping review work moving throughout the project.

This gave the Westminster team a clear view of what needed attention and helped turn a complex content overhaul into manageable steps.

Engaging Design and Strong Performance

The new website incorporates background video to create an engaging introduction to the school. Performance remained a priority throughout development, resulting in a visually rich experience that also loads quickly.

Blackbaud Integration and Easier Management

We added Blackbaud integration as part of the new website and built a backend that makes ongoing updates easier for school staff.

The result gives Westminster greater control over its content and a practical foundation for keeping information current after launch.

Outcome

Westminster School now has a modern, organized website that supports prospective families and is easier for staff to maintain.

The project delivered:

  • Stable hosting, beginning with the migration of the existing site.
  • A clearer content structure following an extensive review of more than 200 pages.
  • An enrollment-focused experience for prospective families.
  • Blackbaud integration.
  • Engaging background video with strong website performance, under 1 second load time
  • An easy-to-manage backend for ongoing updates.
  • A coordinated process that helped the school manage content throughout the project.

The launch marked a fresh start for Westminster’s digital presence: a reliable, engaging website with clearer information for families and simpler management for staff.
